so when we sleep again
just promise me you will
place me in your dream
as an unimportant bystander

then, when you wake
you'll remember just a fraction
and tell me suddenly
"you were in my dream last night"

and I'll ask you "what happened?"
but you won't know

you'll just know I was there
and that was enough
