learn to love the color of neon red
blinking off and on again

diffused lit life
flitted wayward

give me a city
with stars

this night
fire rages in the hills
the sky is orange

heat expands into itself
and people dream of wombs
floating in colorless fluid
in embryonic wastelands

easy

this life
on the edge of the fires
under neon lights
blinking
in post-embryonic confusion

my molted dry skin

yearning
as the night presses on

I see you or nothing
emerging from the smoke
but I'll wait no longer
and bathe in the waters
rippling shades of red
under the inverted night sky
