Dreams of Transylvania
I can fall in love with a country
with big eyes and lush trees
windy roads and scary driving
I miss everything
each night this past week
I've dreamt of Transylvania
the road to Sinai we danced
tongues swelling truths
catching our words
walking the pathway we sang
as strange foreign visitors
charged the castle walls
my armor was invisible
so I didn't know
I couldn't be touched
heaven broke open
when I lost myself
by the king's bedroom
the rain soaked through
my clothes unfettered
by seeking hands
and so clearly a dream
I see myself a representation
yet also far too real
my whole life
is this kiss
that never happens
when I am here I am
thousands of miles away
but this irony I know
distance is the only way
for me to touch you
may these trembling hands
be my fear of returning
that make feelings stronger
this desert with snow
and strikingly clear nights
with glowing moon halos
suits me just fine
illuminated hands
the distance
entreats me--
where to go
with big eyes and lush trees
windy roads and scary driving
I miss everything
each night this past week
I've dreamt of Transylvania
the road to Sinai we danced
tongues swelling truths
catching our words
walking the pathway we sang
as strange foreign visitors
